The best way to clean silver jewelry: Rub the jewelry, then rinse in cool water and buff with a cloth until dry. For heavier tarnish, mix a paste of three parts baking soda to one part water. Wet the silver and apply the cleaner with a soft, lint-free cloth (not paper towels, which can scratch. You can also add white vinegar to the baking soda: Use this gentle cleaner to remove heavy tarnish that’s preventing you from polishing your silver. Soak the tarnished piece in a solution of ½ cup white vinegar and 2 tbsp baking soda (be prepared for the fizzing!) for two to three hours, then rinse and dry.
