25/06/2018 – Curacao Chronicle. / UTRECHT – At the Dutch Athletics Championships in Utrecht Churandy Martina took the double at the sprint yesterday. After winning 100 meters on Friday, he was victorious on Sunday at 200 meters.
Martina, now seven times gold in the 100 meters, won his fourth title in the 200 meters. With a strong headwind on the last straight, he walked to 20.83. Liemarvin Bonevacia, who had fallen below the European Championship limit with 20.65 in the semi-finals, was second in 20.88. Title holder Jorén Tromp did not participate at the Dutch Championships.
Because of the first and second place, Martina and Bonefacia automatically qualified for the EC in Berlin. Both had already qualified with their times. There are three Dutch people in Berlin at 200 meters. The third runner is appointed by the Athletics Union.
