Entornointeligente.com / RJR News / The Police High Command has reacted to a video circulating on social media in which a female cop is seen venting that her superior was giving her a hard time.
The circumstances surrounding what led to the outburst by the policewoman are unclear.
A statement from the High Command says the video, which is being widely circulated, will be investigated and the required mediatory or disciplinary action taken.
The High Command expressed concern that the video does not reflect the image, training and professionalism of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
The High Command encouraged members of the Force to access counseling services through the Medical Services and the Chaplaincy Services Branch.
It says peer counselors and volunteer chaplains are also available at all Police Stations.
Chief Chaplain for the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Gary Budhoo Fletcher, in outlining the process used by the JCF in handling conflict said the unit usually speaks with the individuals.
“If it is worthwhile, we will meet with both of them to see if we can come up with an amicable solution… but sometimes, it’s best to separate both and have them in different locations. We deal with it on a case by case basis,” he said.
Meanwhile, Psychologist Dr. Leachim Semaj, is recommending that the incident be used as a learning tool on how to deal with workplace conflict.
“From here – you “tek sleep mark death …. It’s a wakeup call. Any situation in which two or more persons are involved, there will be conflict. Problems emerge, we address them at the first level, if something persists, you put something in writing .Anger is just one letter away from the word danger Once your anger is triggered, anything can happen……” he said.
