Entornointeligente.com / Jamaica Gleaner / The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has expressed regret for the death of two men who were electrocuted on Tuesday in Negril after a power line reportedly fell on a motorcycle on which they were travelling.
In an emailed statement yesterday, the JPS said that it has launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred in the Westland Mountain community.
The statement also said that the JPS was working with members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force to bring calm to the area and the community where the mishap occurred.
Member of Parliament for Western Westmoreland Wykeham McNeill is encouraging the JPS to urgently attend to any repairs that are required in order to restore electricity to the area.
He said that persons in the community had previously mounted protests against the JPS over certain wires that they said might pose danger.
McNeill described the incident as beyond unfortunate and said that it has left the community and the entire constituency in shock and sorrow.
