JAMAICA: Guest performers delight at Courtleigh - EntornoInteligente

Entornointeligente.com / Jamaica Gleaner / Jay Douglas may have entered the stage at Saturday night’s Simply Myrna as relatively unknown to Jamaican audiences, but after his very entertaining set, his name will be on the lips of those who experienced the performance.

After a dramatic entrance, the Jamaican by birth and Canadian by citizenship had the audience singing and moving to Breaking Up is Hard to Do , a reggae arrangement of Patrick Norman’s Only Love Sets You Free , and Alleluia . The last was given to him by Fab 5. It is also one of the songs on his 2011 Lovers’ Paradise CD, which was nominated for a JUNO Award (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy) in the reggae album category.

Fab 5’s special appearance was memorable. With their attire of all-white suits accented with gold ties and band leader Frankie Campbell’s witty lines, they were awesome. Campbell got the laughter going when he said that, in explaining their dapper look, they had to outdo Myrna. And between more words of wit, the debutants to the Simply Myrna show gave a musical treat. Their set included There’s No Me Without You , Hurt , Kiss and Say Goodbye and their big hit Jamaican Woman .

Prior to making their exit, Hague joined Fab 5 to sing her new single, a combined effort of Fab 5 members Grub Cooper and Sydney Thorpe.
