Entornointeligente.com / Jamaica Gleaner / Tivoli Gardens coach Omar Edwards says it will be tough to snap Arnett Gardens’ 18-game unbeaten start to the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) season when the teams meet at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex this evening at 7 o’clock.
“I am anticipating a good tactical game. Arnett Gardens are defending champions, they are unbeaten and they are doing extremely well. We are going to play them in their backyard, and we know it will be a tough encounter,” Edwards said.
“Nevertheless we are equally prepared and whenever we play Arnett we always put our best foot forward. Plus it’s a derby and a derby needs little or no motivation from the coaches,” he insisted.
Edward is pleased with the strides they have made over the last month. They are currently third on 32 points, four behind Arnett and eight off leaders Portmore United. “We have been growing in confidence and have gone from strength to strength, We are getting better and we will go in the ‘Jungle’ with a positive mindset and hope that at the end of the game we can leave on the brighter side,” he said.
The former Boys’ Town coach also revealed that star striker, Jermaine ‘Teddy’ Johnson who is nursing an injury could play some part in the contest.
“It is very important that we allow Johnson to take care of his injury. We have not got any concrete information as to when he will go and do his surgery. I don’t think it will be tomorrow (today). We played him for 10 minutes against Reno and he scored a good goal and I believe he could, if needed, played some part in the game.”..
Arnett have drawn their last three games and will be seeking a win to give them a boost ahead of their participation in the Caribbean Football Union Club Championships this month.
