The Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) has organised a week of activities to mark World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) on March 15 under the theme: ‘Making the Digital Marketplace Fairer: Access, Security and Protection.’

Activities got underway on March 11 with a church service at the New Beulah Moravian Church in Mandeville in collaboration with the National Consumers League (NCL).

Outreach officers will also conduct presentations at various schools, churches and business places.

The week will be highlighted by a seminar and mini-expo at the Knutsford Court Hotel in New Kingston on March 15 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

“This will involve presentations from experts, professionals, legislators and service providers, discussing the impact of the digital marketplace on the lives of consumers in terms of access, security and protection,” Mrs. Allen said.

Attendees will include members of the CAC board and executive; students from high schools and tertiary institutions; micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs); ministries, agencies and departments; and non-government organisations.
