Jaguars rip apart Red Force - EntornoInteligente

Entornointeligente.com / The trinidad Guardian / Barring a miracle the T&T Red Force will finish last in the 2017/18 CWI Digicel PCL season, on the evidence of the team’s performance yesterday, the opening day of the 10th and final round clash against the champions Guyana Jaguars at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Red Force batting first was bowled out for a paltry 135 runs and Guyana at the close was responding like real champions on 116 for one wicket, just 19 runs from taking the lead.

T&T team looked defeated from the first ball, and after that two major slumps during its innings accounted for the team’s woeful showing. The visitors lost its first three wickets for just 15 runs. Skipper Denesh Ramdin as he has done all season long, took the burden of the batting on his shoulders but when he left for an even 50, Red Force lost its last six wickets for just 26 runs.

Left arm Barbadian seamer Raymond Reifer showed that he had benefited from his tour with the West Indies team in New Zealand recently by grabbing five wickets in the innings.

He started the demolition job by removing opener Amir Jangoo for seven runs. Next up he sent back the promoted Tion Website for a first ball duck, his stumps scattered. Reifer was not finished as he also accounted for West Indies batsman Jason Mohammed also for a duck.

Ramdin joined opener Jeremy Solozano and the pair took the score to 52 with Solozano looking comfortable. However, with his score on 21 the latter was removed by the experienced Veerasammy Permual for 21. Ramdin then found another able partner in Yannic Carriah and they batted well. Carriah looked positive as they took the score past the 100-run mark. However, with the score on 109 Cariah was run out for 26 the wheels fell off again.

Ramdin followed for 50 off 114 balls with four fours and two sixes. Red Force lost its last three wickets without scoring a run and went into the pavilion with only 135 runs on the board.

Guyanese openers Chanderpaul Hemraj and Tagnarine Chanderpaul then played well within their means to give the host an opening stand of 109 runs. Hemraj was the more enterprising of the two and slammed a brilliant 72 off 111 balls with 11 fours and a six. He was dismissed by Bryan Charles just before the close, but resuming today will be the obdurate Chanderpaul on 34 not out. So far, the left-hander has faced 129 balls hitting four fours. He would have as company West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmeyer, who is not out on four.
