Entornointeligente.com / 22/06/2018 – Curacao Chronicle. / THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD – On 21 June, the investment conference “Bon Bini for Business” was held at Sociëteit de Witte in The Hague. This conference was organized on the initiative of Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte.
Both prime ministers were, therefore, present to welcome the participants from the private and public sectors of Curaçao and the Netherlands. During the one-day conference, the opportunities offered by Curaçao for investments from the Netherlands were discussed.
The aim of the conference was to look at how mutual activity in the Kingdom can be stimulated and facilitated. In cooperation with, among others, the Ministry of Economic Development of Curaçao, employers’ organization VNO-NCW and the Curaçao House in the Netherlands, a number of companies including Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), Damen Shipyards, Aqualectra, Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), CINEX and Curaçao Dock Company Holding have given a presentation on the opportunities in their respective sectors.
Steven Martina – Minister of Economic Development presented his vision and plans to the Dutch companies that were present in the morning part of the conference. Also from the Dutch side, there were the Undersecretary for the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Mr. Raymond Knops, representatives of Foreign Economic Relations, Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), MKB Nederland, as well as representatives of the TNO knowledge institute.
In addition to the presentations, an MOU was also signed with the TNO knowledge institute. Prime Minister Rhuggenaath refers in his speech to TNO as a wonderful example of a renowned organization that gives substance to the trust together with Curaçao. CPA, under the direction of the Ministry of Economic Development, officially entered into a partnership with the Port of Rotterdam during the conference, during which both parties will fully explore the advantages of their partnership. These two agreements are the forerunners of even more interesting projects in the near future that will stimulate the economy.
During this conference, the strength and potential of Curaçao as an investment destination was emphasized with the message that this is the moment to take action.
‘Bon Biní for Business’ (Welcome for Business) was the ‘kick off’ for a follow-up investment conference that will take place in Curaçao early next year.
