INDECOM Granted Leave To Go To Privy Council - EntornoInteligente

Entornointeligente.com / The Independent Commission of  Investigations (INDECOM) has been granted leave to go to the Privy Council for a final decision on whether it has the power to arrest, charge or prosecute.   Final leave was granted by the Court of  Appeal on Monday.   INDECOM’s application for leave to appeal to the Privy Council followed the March 2018 judgement by the Court that the agency’s powers are limited to investigations and its officers have no powers of  arrest, charge or prosecution.   While granting permission, the Appeal Court has refused an application by INDECOM for the agency to be allowed to resume arresting, charging or prosecuting police officers, pending the Privy Council’s decision.   Cases investigated by INDECOM are now referred to the Director of  Public Prosecutions for rulings.
