Entornointeligente.com / Guyana Chronicle / Dear Editor, TODAY, March 8, is International Women’s Day. As we reflect on the significance of this day and on the struggles and journeys of women, as a collective social group to end
discrimination and human rights abuses, let us remember all those women who have given much as they demand justice for all and the protection of women’s rights as human rights.
Let us also take time out to observe the International Women’s Day theme: “Time is Now: Rural and Urban Activists Transforming Women’s Lives.” Every day, the news media bring to us incidents and situations in which the rights of women, men and children and of whole nations are constantly being violated with impunity. We must believe that “another world is possible “and continue to work towards making this new world a reality. This new world must be one free of domestic violence and sexual violence against women and girls.
The Clerical and Commercial Workers Union pledges its solidarity with the millions of women in grassroots movement and trade unions around the world in saying Enough is Enough! No more gender-based violence in the workplace. Regards Sherwood Clarke General-President CCWU
