Can you remember the day you received your B1/B2 (visitors) visa from the United States embassy? Do you recall the joy you experienced the first time you travelled to the ‘land of the free and the home of the brave’? Well, dancehall artiste Flyght (formerly known as Bluugo) certainly does. It was not a work permit. Nevertheless, the deejay, who had never travelled to the US before, was over the moon upon receiving his US documents. So memorable was the moment that the Magnum King marks it down as the Christmas he’ll never forget.
Before that moment last year, the deejay could not recall a standout memory from Christmases past. In fact, the artiste shared that the festive season doesn’t usually bring him joy because he’s reminded by a sad event that took place years ago. He did not want to go into details about that memory. Instead, he recalled how he felt getting on an aeroplane for the first time. “Me get me visa last year Christmas so that was a joy. Me did dream about getting it just to go cross the waters and so when it happen, that moment was one of the best for me,” he said. “I went to Florida, so it’s not like me did get to experience a white Christmas or anything like that because Florida weather is a lot like Jamaica but me nah lie, the moment was one I’ll never forget.
“I remember the plane going up in the air and me affi hold on pan the seat dem and say ‘bloodfiire’. It was just a new and different experience. Then, looking down on Earth from the skies was beautiful. It gave me a different appreciation of Mother Nature and the creator himself,” he continued.
Flyght expressed that with the groundwork he has to be pouring into his career in Jamaica, he hasn’t travelled as much as he’d like to. But, he’s hoping that come 2020, that will change. “I definitely want to experience that moment again and again. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it,” he said.
