The Hon Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Roosevelt Skerrit, has made comments on the controversy raised by the United Workers Party (UWP) opposition of the cost of his housing which will be billed to the State.
Hon Lennox Linton, UWP Leader voiced his dissent at the Cabinet’s decision to approve EC $32,000 a month to rent a residence to house the island’s Hon Prime Minister plus additional tens of thousands for related expenses
Hon Deputy Prime Minister, Regional Austrie had responded that the sum is well deserved in honour of Hon Skerrit’s service of the nation
On Sunday, Hon Skerrit who is also Finance Minister, acknowledged that a rent bill of EC $32,000 is significant but he also suggests that something less costly could be below the basic living standard using “a banana shed” in comparison
He says the attitude to the housing arrangement is “unfortunate.”
