An elderly woman died in a fire at her house in Mayfield, northern Manchester on Tuesday. She has been identified as 95 year old Elesha Spencer. Her remains were discovered during cooling down operations. About 2:30 pm, residents reported seeing smoke coming from Miss Spencer’s house. Rohan Powell, Deputy Superintendent at the Mandeville fire station, said it took personnel close to one hour to reach the location, which is in a remote area. DSP Powell said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The value of the house has been estimated at $8 million. He said the caretaker was not at the house at the time of the fire.
