Entornointeligente.com / US President Joe Biden has suggested there could be more announcements of vaccine donations by developed countries on Friday as he confirmed that the US will be purchasing 500 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine for poor nations. The president made the announcement in Cornwall in the UK after what he called a very productive meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He congratulated the UK on its push to vaccinate its own population as well donating vaccines, adding that more countries in the Group of Seven (G7) would be announcing “the full scope of our commitment” on Friday. Mr. Biden said the US will deliver 200 million doses by the end of the year and the remaining 300 million doses in the first half of 2022. Vaccines will begin shipping in August. The doses will be distributed through COVAX and given to 92 low- and middle-income countries and the African Union. Mr. Biden has already pledged to donate at least 80 million vaccine doses from the U.S. supply by the end of June.
