Former West Indies fast bowler Sir Curtly Ambrose says his desire to give back to the sport of cricket led him to apply for a coaching position in England. Ambrose, who has the lowest bowling average of any man to take 400 test wickets (20.99), has applied for the role of elite pace-bowling coach with the deadline for applications being January 10. If he is successful, he will be expected to work with England‘s ‘next in line’ pace bowlers. Ambrose adds that shifting his focus to the England job does not mean he has turned his back on West Indies cricket. Ambrose has had spells as bowling coach of West Indies and held that role when the team won the World T20 title in 2016
