“I feel proud. He did well for Trinidad and Tobago.”
That was Cornelius Richards’ response to his son, Jereem Richards, 23, who captured a bronze medal during the 2017 IAAF World Athletics Championships in London, England, yesterday.
“It is a big achievement and a big accomplishment,” added his proud mother, Yvette Wilson.
His parents viewed the race from different homes in Fanny Village, Point Fortin.
Richards and Wilson told the Express by phone their son’s mentor was former sprint star Ato Boldon.
Richards joined his brother, David Richards, at his home in East Street, Fanny Village, for the race yesterday.
He had hustled from his job at Trinmar to catch the men’s 200m final.
