Trinidad Express / couva High-powered weapons and ammunition were seized at a house in Couva yesterday. The haul was made during an anti-crime exercise by members of the Criminal Gang and Intelligence Unit (CGIU). Police said nine weapons were discovered, including a Russian-made assault rifle, a Remington rifle outfitted with a scope, an Uzi sub-machine gun and six pistols. More than 800 rounds of assorted ammunition were secured in boxes and stashed in a knapsack. The rifles were wrapped in black plastic bags and fastened by masking tape, police said. The raid was conducted at a house located in a bushy area at Todd’s Road, Milton Village.
