Trinidad Express / A 12 YEAR old girl went to collect her results for the Secondary Entrance Assessment this morning, while police officers prepared to take the accused rapist to court.
The child, who received counselling since the incident on Saturday, was expected to be accompanied by her mother to collect her results at school.
The suspect, a 20 year old man is expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate charged with sexual penetration of a child.
He has been detained at the Chaguanas Police Station since Saturday.
He was arrested after residents assisted officers in his capture.
On Saturday at around 9.30 a.m. the victim was walking to a shop near her home when she took a short cut through a bushy track.
A man accosted her, and threatened to kill her if she didn’t have sex with him.
The child said the man forced himself on her and she raised an alarm.
When the suspect fled, she ran for help and reported the assault to a neighbour.
The girl’s mother was informed and police were contacted.
The suspect was held and taken to the station.
