TRINIDAD Y TOBAGO: Blackouts in several parts of Trinidad / News day / Customers took to social media yesterday as they shared the areas where the outages occurred.
These included areas such as Trinicity, Cocorite, Chaguanas, Cocoyea, Moruga, Tacarigua, and San Fernando.
According to acting corporate communications manager, Clair Cooper, there was a breakdown with the Trinidad Generation Unlimited plant, which is located in La Brea.
As such, Cooper explained that there was automatic load-shedding, which came into effect when this occurred.
Right now we are still trying to determine what caused this, but I do know most of Port-of- Spain and areas in south Trinidad have had their electricity restored. I am not too sure about Central as yet, she said.
Electricity had gone out in some areas for as little as half an hour, while some areas experienced outages for as long as two and a half hours
