MiamiHerald / For many parents, the day you take your kid to college can be bittersweet.
Goodbyes hurt, but earning a degree can set your child up for a stable future. For some parents, like Steven Schragis, returning to a college campus after being away for decades has evoked different feelings altogether, like the urge to go back to school – a tough task once you’re locked into a career and have a family.
So, in 2006, Schragis founded One Day University – or One Day U – a nationwide lecture series targeted at adults who want to rekindle their inner student without having to worry about taking time off work or stressing over exams and homework.
One Day U, in a partnership with the Miami Herald, is hosting a seven-hour seminar on Saturday in Coral Gables featuring four guest lectures from professors at universities across the country. These “students-for-a-day” can learn about American history, the science of sleep and stress, the battle between faith and science and movies that changed the course of America.
One Day University planned for Miami this weekend
