The Trinidad Guardian / National batsman Ewart Nicholson slammed a century on the opening day of action in round three of the TTCB Premiership I competition at Syne Village yesterday.
The consistent right hander scored 110 as PowerGen closed their first innings on 315 for nine wickets. At the close of play Central Sports were responding on 25 without loss.
Nicholson looked very composed in getting his century and held the PowerGen innings together. He got good support from left hander Mark Deyal who slapped 60, Akeil Cooper who counted 49 and Jerron Maniram who made 35.
At the Oval, Merryboys are in charge, as they bowled out Queen’s Park II for just 123. Leading the way was the inform Joshua De Silva who got 46. Fast bowler Atiba Allert was brilliant with the ball in taking five wickets for 22 runs. He got good support from a former Queen’s Park man in Uthman Mohammed who took 3/45.
Merryboys in reply closed on 218 for eight, after a slump ensued.
They got a solid 82 from national player Isaiah Rajah and 39 from fellow national Amir Jangoo.
Sherwin Peters opening the bowling for Queen’s Park snared 3/22.
At Pierre Road, defending champions Queen’s Park I was put under pressure by Alescon Comets, as they bowled them out for 154. Comets in response made 181/8 at the close.
All matches will resume this morning at 10 am.
