Jamaica Gleaner / THE EDITOR, Sir: It was no laughing matter when residents reached Portmore, St Catherine, last night to be greeted by an orchestra with its main players being mosquitoes of every size and shape.
No serious discussion was held outside, fearing the mosquitoes flying in their mouths to silence them as these pests hovered and followed any resident who dared to be a captive audience outside of their house.
The mosquitoes took over every nook and cranny and filled each crevices of Portmore, while residents had to start practising the new move called ‘wave yuh hand and fan mosquito from yuh face’.
How could one place breed so many mosquitoes in such a short a space of time? I hope the mayor of Portmore can get speedy help to destroy these ‘national birds’, a few could be tolerated but not when they decide to take over the air space. Intervention is needed immediately!
