MÉXICO: Hospital explosion was caused by leak in the delivery truck - EntornoInteligente

El Universal / The Justice Minister of Mexico City, Rodolfo Ríos Garza, reported that the preliminary forensic examination of the circumstances around the explosion at the Mother and Children Hospital of Cuajimalpa indicate that it was caused by a malfunction of a gas delivery truck. Ríos Garza said that a leak occurred in the bleed valve, which is located in the racking system of the unit. He added that the tank of the delivery truck is being emptied and until it is fully drained, "the experts will be able to conduct investigations and hence determine responsibilities". Regarding the situation of driver Carlos Chávez, Ríos Garza mentioned that he did not had the preparation, training or knowledge needed to solve the leak and prevent the explosion. As for the other delivery workers, he added that they were not directly involved in the circumstances leading to the tragedy, because one of them was in the area where the gas tank is filled, while the other was inside the cabin. So far the doctors have not authorized the presentation of Chávez Hernández before a judge to declare about the incident, on which he and gas company Express Nieto are pointed out as responsible for the damage to the hospital. The final results of the forensic investigation are expected in the next few days.
