iWitness News / The accused, Kishorn Jackson. (iWN photo) A Rockies man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with last Thursday’s shooting of two persons during an attempted robbery of a Lotto booth in Kingstown.
Kishorn Jackson, 26, appeared in court with a cast on his right leg, which he reportedly broke as he attempted to escape police last Thursday night.
iWitness News understands that he was nabbed at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital on Friday, where a vehicle took him for medical attention.
Jackson, who is originally from Rillan Hill, was indicted on Monday at the Serious Offences Court on the charges in connection with the crimes, which occurred just three days after he was released from prison after completing a sentence.
He was charged that on March 15, 2018 at Heritage Square, Kingstown, he attempted to murder Errol Hinson of Enhams and Veron Williams of Kingstown Park.
Jackson was also charged with conspiracy to commit robbery at Heritage Square, also on March 15.
Hinson, 69, a security officer, received a gunshot to the left side of his jaw, while Williams, 43, of Kingstown Park, was shot in the left side of her back when a gunman attempted to rob the Lotto booth at Heritage Square.
Williams was working at the Lotto booth at the time of the incident.
Hinson and Williams were rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial hospital and are receiving medical care.
Jackson was not required to plead to the indictable charges.
Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delplesche objected to bail, telling the court that the victims named in the attempted murder charges were still in hospital.
He said that they were receiving treatment for gunshot injuries.
The prosecutor said that doctors at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital were trying their best to administer medical treatment to the virtual complainants.
He said that Hinson and Williams were being monitored closely as their injuries are serious.
Jackson will return to court for bail review next Monday, March 26.
Correction: An earlier version of this story said that Jackson was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit murder. It was actually one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.
