RJR News / For the fourth consecutive Commonwealth Games, Jamaica’s netballers – the “Sunshine Girls” – will have to battle for a bronze medal against the same opponent.
The Jamaicans were beaten 57-42 by Australia in their semi final match on Saturday morning. They started well as they trailed by just one goal at the half way stage, 23-24. However, several turn-overs by the Jamaicans in the third and fourth quarters saw the Australians taking a firm grip on the game as they went on to close out the contest.
The Aussies will meet New Zealand in the gold medal match after the Kiwis beat England 35-34 in a gripping contest.
New Zealand trailed by three points late in the fourth quarter before rallying with a last-second winner to break English hearts.
New zealand will be looking to beat Australia for the third final in a row.
