Education Minister Senator Ruel Reid is reporting a decline in school violence during the first quarter of this year. He provided the update while answering questions during Friday morning’s sitting of the Senate. “The available figures indicate that between January 2017 and April 2017, there were seven such attacks,” he announced. The incidents, the minister said, have been broken down by month and by the institutions where they took place. Senator Reid attributed the decline to an increased focus on safety and security in schools. The staff in the Safety and Security in Schools Department has been increased to four.
