Patterson says Goodleigh championed the cause for equity, social justice and productivity and was a firm believer that education was critical to removing some of the barriers in the labour market.
He was among scores of mourners who attended today?s funeral service for the late trade unionist at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in downtown Kingston.
Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, who was also in attendance, said up the time of his passing Goodleigh, in his capacity as head of the Labour Market Commission, was an integral part of Jamaica?s efforts to transform labour productivity and generate economic growth.
A former president of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions and general secretary of the National Workers Union, Goodleigh died at the Andrews Memorial Hospital last month.
