Jamaica Observer / Dr Andrew Wheatley, the minister of science, energy and technology, was back home last night resting, after yesterday’s nasty road crash in Portmore, St Catherine. A Toyota Prado SUV the minister was travelling in overturned in a three-vehicle spill near the intersection of the Portmore communities of Portsmouth and Waterford, about nine o’clock yesterday morning.
Minister of Health Dr Christopher Tufton, who had visited the minister and his security/driver at the Andrews Memorial Hospital in Kingston yesterday after the crash, said that they showed no signs of external injury and were in apparently good health.
However, he said they were being kept at the hospital pending internal examinations by doctors as the vehicle overturned during the collision.
Last night, the Jamaica Observer confirmed that both Dr Wheatley and the driver, whose name was not released, were discharged from hospital in good health and were home, recuperating.
Wheatley is in his second term as member of Parliament for St Catherine South Central. He was appointed minister of science, energy and technology in March 2016, and is also a deputy general secretary of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party.
