JAMAICA: Governor Of The Central Bank Of Trinidad & Tobago Fired / RJR News / Jwala Rambarran, Governor of the Central Bank of Trinidad & Tobago, has been fired. The Trinidad & Tobago Guardian newspaper confirmed that Mr. Rambarran was dismissed by Finance Minister Colm Imbert on Wednesday. Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley had publicly dedlared that he did not have any confidence in the Governor. According to Dr. Rowley, Mr. Rambarran’s dismissal comes after a series of actions that left him in an untenable situation. Two weeks ago, Dr. Rowley said Mr. Rambarran was effectively creating problems for himself by his actions during his time as governor. In a stinging statement to the media, Dr. Rowley described Mr. Rambarran’s actions as reckless and illegal. Dr. Rowley’s harsh critique came after a series of missteps by Mr. Rambarran, which brought him into conflict with Mr. Imbert. Earlier this month, Mr. Imbert criticised Mr. Rambarran for announcing that the country was in a recession without first consulting him.
