RJR News / Five more persons were arrested during operations under the State of Emergency in St. James on Tuesday evening.
They were held during an operation which resulted in the seizure of 49 rounds of ammunition in Granville, Montego Bay.
This increased to 80 the number of ammunition rounds found since the start of the State of Emergency on Thursday.
The security forces were conducting operations in several communities when they searched a house on Brown’s Lane.
A container found beneath the structure was opened and the ammunition discovered buried in a powdery substance.
A joint statement from the Jamaica Defence Force and Jamaica Constabulary Force says the 7.62 rounds are used in Kalashnikov type assault rifles that have been linked to numerous murders and shootings in St James.
