Jamaica Observer / KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is investigating the double fatal shooting of two men along the Spanish Town Bypass yesterday. The deceased have been identified as O’Neil Johnson and Ricardo Stewart.
The police reported that a team of five officers were on mobile patrol along the Spanish Town Bypass when five men alighted from two vehicles and opened gunfire at the police team. During an exchange of gunfire two men suffered gunshot wounds, two escaped, and one was taken into police custody.
A 9mm Worcester pistol and several 5.56 and 9mm spent casings were reported as being recovered from the scene. According to INDECOM, the officers were interviewed and they provided their initial accounts and were served with notices to furnish statements on Wednesday of this week.
The Commission is now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed or has information relating to this fatal shooting incident to come forward and assist.
