April 21 Insurance brokers Aon, Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) and Willis Towers Watson are being investigated by Britain’s financial watchdog as part of a wider probe into aviation insurance broking, the companies said.
The Insurance Insider reported late on Thursday that the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) was investigating five aviation insurance brokers in London over the alleged misuse of confidential client information.
The FCA declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.
Aon said in a statement late on Thursday it was “working diligently” with the regulator, but could not comment on the details of the ongoing investigation.
JLT also said it was “providing all appropriate assistance to the FCA,” in a statement on Friday.
Willis Towers Watson said in an emailed statement on Friday it was “cooperating fully” with the FCA investigation, following a recent visit by the FCA to its offices.
A Marsh spokesman said the broker would issue a statement later on Friday. (Reporting by Esha Vaish in Bengaluru and Carolyn Cohn in London; Editing by Rachel Armstrong and Mark Potter)
