IN THE SENATE Opposition Senator Gerald Ramdeen yesterday called for a probe into the “roti police” — four police officers whom he claimed have been sitting in two police vehicles chasing people away from buying roti at Hi Way Roti Shop, on Solomon Hochoy Highway, near Freeport, because a deputy commissioner of police was denied free roti for his son’s wedding. Ramdeen raised the issue in his contribution to the debate on the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment)(No.2) Bill, 2017, at the Senate sitting yesterday. He questioned the misuse of police resources and called on the Attorney General, through the National Security Council, to raise this matter with the Commissioner of Police and pull the station diary assignment records.
